PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: June 5, 2026MonkeyLock is built on a simple principle: your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal information. This policy explains exactly what the app accesses and why.
1. Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Location data
- Health or fitness data beyond what is described below
- Photos or camera footage
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
- Advertising identifiers
2. On-Device Storage
All app data — including your workout history, screen time balance, habit streaks, achievements, and settings — is stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your device except via your personal iCloud account (see Section 4).
3. HealthKit
MonkeyLock requests read-only access to Apple HealthKit to count steps for passive banana earning. HealthKit data is used only to calculate your balance on-device. It is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → MonkeyLock.
4. iCloud Sync
If you have iCloud enabled, MonkeyLock uses iCloud Key-Value Storage to sync your settings and balance across your own devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
5. Camera
MonkeyLock optionally uses the camera to verify exercise form for a bonus banana multiplier. Camera access is used only for local, real-time exercise detection. No photos or video are captured, saved, or transmitted. You can disable camera access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → MonkeyLock.
6. Screen Time API
MonkeyLock uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls / ManagedSettings / DeviceActivityMonitor) to block and unblock apps you select. This is a self-restriction feature — you are restricting your own device. No data about which apps you block is transmitted to us. App selection data is stored locally on your device.
7. Purchases (RevenueCat)
MonkeyLock uses RevenueCat to process in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat handles purchase verification through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat may collect anonymized purchase data (subscription status, renewal events) as described in their privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy. We do not receive or store your payment information.
8. No Third-Party Analytics or Ads
MonkeyLock contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics frameworks (no Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no Facebook SDK). The only third-party SDK is RevenueCat, which is used solely for purchase management.
9. Children's Privacy
MonkeyLock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we materially change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and note the change in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
